Background and objectives
Welcome to the first Annual Combined Con ference of the journal Artificial Intelligence Surgery and the Artificial Intelligence Organ ization for the Next Generation of Surgeons (AIONS).
It will consist of a Consensus Conference of the Editorial Board Members of Artificial Intel ligence Surgery and its goal is to come to a consensus on new definitions of surgery in the era of artificial intelligence surgery. We will try to better define concepts such as surgical ro bots and collaborative (cobots), robotic-as sisted surgery, surgical autonomy, endolu minal surgery, percutaneous surgery and non-invasive surgery.
We will then have our first annual meeting of AIONS. AIONS (AIONS.ai), a not-for-profit organization, which will operate as a society dedicated to a wide range of aligned AI-related efforts within the global surgical domain.
The name “AIONS” is derived from the Greek word for eternity and the mythical god of cyclic ages, also known as Eon in English. AIONS stands for the Artificial Intelligence Organization for Next Generation Surgeons.
The overarching goal of AIONS is to create a collaborative platform where interventionalists from various disciplines can engage with com puter scientists, ethicists, engineers, and oth ers interested in the judicious utilization of AI in surgery. Our ultimate goal is to act as a bridge between surgical innovators and industry leaders interested in promoting increased artificial intelligence in the care of surgical patients.
